The bulbs are smaller than a regular daffodil, so I'm guessing maybe a jonquil? I realise they will flower soon, but I'm keen to know what they will be? Any ideas?

They look a bit green for daffodils, which usually have a bluey green colour, but that might be the camera or my screen. There are hundreds of species and variety of daffodils of all sizes form about 10cn upwards.

Possibly Leucojum (spring snowflake). not bluebell (bulb too round, and not white), wrong leaves for crocus.

Wait until they flower, then if it isn't obvious what they are, come back with another pic.

@bluecheesefan- Yes, I did say in my OP that it will be more obvious once they flower! I'm just being impatient. Smile

I'm not sure about the long white patch, but perhaps grape hyacinths.

I'm not sure about the long white patch, but perhaps grape hyacinths. That's a possibility. The rich green colour is right, and they do put their leaves up very earlt.

Elouera · 19/01/2021 22:18

The other grape hyacinths I have, have much thinner, shorter leaves and the whole plant is much smaller. I cant wait till it flowers so I can update.

I'm going for a narcissus of sorts. There's a small flowered multi headed one called "pipit" ( I think) that looks a bit like that.

PlayerOneNotReady · 07/02/2021 14:11

They look rather like Camassia, which will have lovely blue or white flowers in late spring. Judging by the size I'd hazard a guess that they'll be blue rather than white, as the blue ones are more vigorous IME

Update with pics:
@MereDintofPandiculation- I think you were correct that they are leucojum. Just waiting for more flowers now.

Yes, that looks like Leucojum.

CanIGoHomeNowPlease · 20/02/2021 20:52

Is it a Snowflake?

MereDintofPandiculation · 20/02/2021 20:59

Yes, a Snowflake, Leucojum.
