Can anyone recommend a good and reasonable online nursery? Im after some shrubs and I’ve been having a look online at some suppliers but some of the reviews are really quite poor or the prices are ridiculous!

Thanks!

I have bought from Crocus which are usually very good but a little pricy. Also Claire Austin but with mixed results. If you want the option of pot or bare rooted, you may find what you want at Best4hedging. We have always been pleased with them and buying bare root is cheaper.

What shrubs are you after? Once you get past the big players (crocus etc) they start to specialise

Thanks all! I had looked at Crocus but note that they were a little pricey but if the quality is good then it’s worth a shot. Interesting about pot or bare rooted - I hadn’t even considered this, so I’ll take a look at Best4hedging too.

I moved into a new build a year ago that has a small and very overlooked garden! Fast growing shrubs and perhaps some small trees seems to be the way to go, I’m open to all ideas! 😄

If you want a hedge or trees then now is definitely the time to buy bare root - the nurseries around here are still lifting them from the fields.

If you want shrubs what you want may depend on the location and what you want (evergreen,, flowers, etc)

Hi somewhere have you had a look at Lucy Bellamys book 'Brilliant and Wild: a garden from scratch in a year'? If you like the style-naturalistic- based on putting in small and therefore cheaper perennials, she also has some ideas on design which would go well in a new build plot.

As you are overlooked, then there are lots of lovely small trees. Garden Rescue (on TV and You Tube) have lots of ideas for small trees and they often do overlooked gardens. Sounds like an exciting time.

Do not use Gardening Express! They sent me wrong plants/dead plants & never sorted it. Had to claim it back via my credit card in the end.

Sarah Raven especially if you can get it on the sale! Beautiful tulips & dahlias.

I agree about Gardening Express (@Snowinsummer ). I also received dead mouldy plants, the wrong plants, abs they ignored all attempts to contact them. No response ever. Awful company.

I agree Crocus is good, but pricey.
