feng shui and prickly plants

I know some people think feng shui is largely bunkum but I think certain things about it clearly make sense like decluttering and light etc.
But I have some prickly plants in pots on the front door step and read somewhere that cacti and prickly plants in or outside a house cause strife in relationships!! This has to be rubbish doesn't it????!!! Where would you keep your spikey plants?

rather there than in your relationship area. I think they might be ok on the doorstep (warding off evil). In my feng shui book they recommend those gnarling Chinese dogs guarding your door. I don't think they would be a postive influence anywhere inside your house unless you put them in your wealth corner and spear monopoly money on the spikes.
