Does this white currant plant look right?

Just received a white currant. No leaves, which I presume is correct for the time of year (?) but the stems look a bit white and peeling - is that ok or worrying?

I'm not a currant expert but that doesn't look like a healthy plant to me. There are hints of some sort of mould or mildew (the white bits, if they're powdery) and I don't think the bark shouldn't be peeling.

I think I'll email a pic to the nursery and ask them. Sigh. Wanted to plant it today.
