Beware Sarah Raven free delivery

I used a free delivery voucher and they must use worse service than 2nd class as my plants arrived looking like they'd been drop-kicked around the sorting office! Packaging ripped, soaking wet, compost everywhere, plants broken. Sad
DH was a postie for 7 years and can vouch for the treatment some items are given at the sorting office. Sarah R should use a more reliable courier. The invoice included in the box was dated 8th Oct and I received it today. I have asked for a refund. Seeing as I emailed 2 weeks ago to cancel my outstanding order thinking it's way too late in the year to plant anything, and got no response then it turns up out of the blue in such a sorry state, I'm not impressed. The plants will never survive the winter we have here.
Not happy.

That’s a shame, I have had plants from Sarah Raven quite a few times and have always found them to be very healthy and extremely well packaged. I’m sure they will respond favourably to your complaint.

It’s fine to plant things in most of the country at the moment, the soil is still warm enough for planting , all you need to do is dodge the rain.

@BooseysMom that's so disappointing. I've ordered loads of stuff from Sarah Raven this year, also using free delivery codes, and everything has arrived in fabulous condition and really well packaged. There were a few delays in sending some things out but no problem with the condition when they got here.

Definitely ask for a refund. What did you order? I'm in N E England and am about to plant out some perennials so they may just survive. Worth a try?

@viques.. thank you for your post. Sarah R were great with refunding some seeds but this is an issue with the damage done to the box and plants.
Re. planting, the problem is here we have a north-facing garden and it's horrendous with heavy clay soil and stones as it's new-build garden. I can't get anything delicate to survive unfortunately.

@catwithflowers.. thanks for your post. Yes it was a disappointment. I ordered Coreopsis Ianceolata Mango Punch and the plant is tiny and broken by the damage. There's also a Philadelphus Fragrant Falls which is also tiny and has broken stems. Sad

It's the fault of the post office but also they were badly packaged so that the compost and plants all came out of the pots. I expected better from this company tbh

I adore Sarah raven but have had a very mixed bag of deliveries.

BooseysMom · 24/10/2020 19:31

Oops, DS sent that for me and I hadn't finished!

So just to update this thread, Sarah Raven responded to my email and refunded me. It was just down to a delay with emails. I would order again but the way boxes are handled by the post office puts me off.
