I'm not sure, but I don't see why not. I salvaged some really sad looking ones from under a Bush in the back garden and it is now looking great!

You could consider also Goatsbeard spiraea, Aruncus dioica, which has very similar leaves .... although thinking about it, "dioica" suggests it may be dioecious, "two households", ie male and female flowers on different plants, so less likely to get seeds if there aren't many plants of it around.
