help! Need an evergreen climber for a container...

Hi all,

I need something to climb up a fence and into a trellis, to provide a bit of privacy from the neighbour's garden/back door.

Thing is, it' s quite a shady position (side return , only gets direct sun for couple of hours in the morning) and will have to be in a 50l container (cos that's all I have!).

I'm struggling to find something to fit the bill. I was hoping to plant a honeysuckle but keep reading that they don't really like containers as they are deep rooting (my container is only 60x30x30cm).

Does anyone have any other ideas? Something nice for pollinators would be my preference but open to anything really as long as it looks nice!

I have a honeysuckle japonica in a pot that has covered a 20ft fence, I have to cut it back every few weeks in the summer or you can't get out of the back door!

ooo, thats interesting! How big/deep is the pot?

have just realised I have a Trachelospermum Jasminoides in a pot already which I could potentially move to this area... Not sure about light levels though - how much sun does jasmine require? I don't want to damage it but at the same time it would be a lovely thing to have near the back door.

The pot is 45cm deep and 30cm across (just made DH crawl under the wet honeysuckle to measure Grin).

Thank you! and thanks to your wet DH! I may go for one of these. I love honeysuckle but there isn’t really anywhere else to put one in my garden...

He says you're welcome! It does smell really nice and the bees love it, it just gets a bit rampant if left to it's own devices.
