My daughter was given a seed for a school project- it's grown like a weed- can anyone identify it for me?!

What is it?!

Is it devils ivy?

pea?

I'm wondering whether that's a broad bean, growing rather weakly because it's indoors and not getting enough light, and therefore hanging down.

Was previously in a very well lit spot- she moved it to show her class. Thanks for the suggestions. I don't want to kill it- but have no idea how to keep it going either!

Can either of you remember what the seed was like?the more I look at it the more it looks like a broad bean. Alternatively, would the teacher know?

Otherwise, carry on doing whatever you've been doing. It's obviously been working. You might want to keep it indoors in a light spot over winter. Don't over-water - ie don't give it water if the soil is still moist.

Sadly the teacher just had some seeds and lobbed a few at each kid- she has no idea. Juts wasn't sure if it needed some outside time or if it was an i door plant. Although currently it's still winter (Melbourne) so don't want to freeze it. Haven't manage to make anything last this long before. Getting quite protective....Grin

If you're in Australia, then it could be anything! Grin

I'd say broad bean

SD1978 · 05/09/2020 10:12

If it is broad bean- will it grow something g other than leaves eventually?!

Yes, eventually it should flower and produce beans
