Rhododendrons

Novice gardener here ( one day I may not have to start my sentence like this!) .

I bought these rhododendrons a few months ago when in bloom.
Are these new buds ( they're not likely to flower now are they?)
Or is this how new leaves start?

New growth, not flowers

Nice healthy lovely shade of green, all is well.

The leftmost photo might possibly be a bud - you do occasionally get one at an unexpected time. The right hand one is obviously new leaf growth.
