Any idea what is up with my lawn?

I mowed it on Friday and its already growing like this! It's making it all look uneven.

I'm gradually patching bits in with the same seed but any ideas?

Literally mow it once then looks awful a few days later

Different grass species grow at different speeds. Your lawn will be a mix of species, with some chosen for their toughness, some for their ability to "tiller" and form a dense mass, and some for the speed of growth. If you really want to keep it looking "perfect" try raising the height of the mower slightly and cutting it twice a week instead of once.

What mere said plus it looks like new grass that needs to grow ( spread ) into bigger clumps to cover the ground , keep mowing , not too low , often , and in time you should get a thicker bottom to each grass plant , also keep the seeding into bare earth gaps
