Thats interesting thanks. We've moved here 2 years and it was tiny when we moved here and never really grew but these past couple of months it's just growing and growing and I keep trimming it back because it goes all out of shape with long stems trailing along the soil or up the fence behind it

Yes it's a jasmine. It needs something to grow up. I have one this colour and it produces lovely smelling little white flowers. It's a really striking colour too, one of my favourite plants in my garden.

meant to add, if you keep cutting it back it probably won't produce flowers. A metal wigwam type frame would work OK.

@DeborahAnnabelToo aaah that's good to know. Yes I keep cutting it back frequently which probably explains the lack of flowers. Will get a frame tonorrow - need to go to wilkos so I hope they will have something suitable in
