My lawn is not good - mossy and on sandy soil. I used to collect grass clippings in the mower-box and put them on the compost heap. This year I decided to experiment and leave the clippings in situ, in the hope that they might improve the soil. I'm not yet noticing any difference, good or bad! (apart from the job taking less time
because there are no trips to the compost bin).
Does anybody have any experience, any comments? Does the theory actually work? How long before you see results? Or was this not the year to try because it's been such a weird one.
