Plant/ tree identification please

Hi,

I dug this up from my DGMs garden believing it to be an evening primrose plant. However, it was just a twig when I got it and now seems to be more tree like in habit. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

I have a weeping ash I. My garden and the saplings that spring up everywhere look just like that.

I vote ash, they are forever springing up in my garden even though I can’t see any nearby.
