Will sweet peas flower without support?

I bought some sweet pea plants from the garden centre about 4 weeks ago and planted them in balcony hanger pots - they are bushy and green and seem happy, but no flowers yet. Will they come to nothing as I have nothing for them to climb on or am I being impatient?

If they were sown in spring then they will usually flower in August. Mine haven’t yet and they are supported. They’ll cling to each other in one big mass if not supported.

They should still flower. My plant that was missed in tying up is producing more flowers than those on the trellis...

Thanks! I will curb my impatience and see what happens, they were an impulse buy and an experiment so no big deal if it doesn’t work out!

Yes, they'll flower well without support. I didn't get round to supporting mine, and they are marching across the terrace in a mass of flower. (I sowed last autumn and planted out in tubs in April which I moved outdoors at end May).
