Wisteria turning yellow

I expect my wisteria, grown in a large pot, to lose its leaves over autumn but in July
Here in Wales we had a scorching Spring and the alternating cold and wet, warm and wet, cold and dry spells
Is this Autumn come early as the proliferation of blackberries in the hedge make me suspect or have I neglected my climber?

Has it been allowed to get too dry at the roots?

If not, then it might be short of nutrients, so maybe some sequestered iron or seaweed.

Mine is being eaten by something which I suspect is vine weevil

BarkingHat · 30/07/2020 10:15

@ChristopherTracy have you tried nematodes for the vine weevils. May be too late to save the wisteria but could save other plants in pots.

@IamEarthymama has it got waterlogged? I had to take mine out the pot and clear out the drainage holes and put it back in again. It was sopping wet. Much happier in new compost and draining again.

It was a 2 person job!

Yes, I will have a look at the garden centre - although it is actually in the ground.

I usually buy them from amazon...in the ground would be more unusual for the little gits than pots.

You can usually tell if you have vine weevils in the garden as the adult weevils eat distinctive notches out of the edge of leaves.

Google 'vine weevil leaf damage' and look at the images and you'll see what I mean.

Sorry I missed your replies, I have had a busy weekend and injured knee to contend with.
It needs to be in a new pot I think.
I have checked for vine weevil and can’t see anything
The pot is draining but is a little small now
