Do you have a swing seat?

Hello greenfingered sages, I need a bit of help please Smile

Do you have a swing seat and would you recommend it? It's my birthday soon and I'm getting a new seat but there are loads, the prices are bizarre, I like the egg shaped ones but I'm quite plump and clumsy will I end up being cut out of it?
Are the multi seat ones any good?

Or if you've bought a uncomfortable, dangerous, shite one what to avoid?

TIA wise ones.

I have one. Three seater metal one with a canopy. I bought it from Homebase a few years ago. I scrub the seat each spring but otherwise it needs no maintenance.

I absolutely love it. It's by far the most comfortable seat in the garden. Everyone competes to sit on it. The canopy is welcome on a hot day. Plus I can stretch out and have a nap on it!

Yes, just a cheap one from wilko. I’ve had it 4 years and sit on it all the time and watch my pond.

This. We love it. We've replaced the cushions but only because we forgot to bring it in one night and found a hedgehog pulling out the stuffing to make a nest. How it got on to the cushion I don't know!

Yes! I think favourite place to be is the swing seat in my garden... Get the biggest, sturdiest one you can.

Furries · 23/07/2020 02:15

Yup, best money I’ve spent! Got mine around 8 years ago. It’s metal with a canopy and easily seats 3 people.

The seat can swing, or you can easily flick two hooks so that it’s stationary. It also folds down flat so is like a huge double subbed - again, it can swing or be fixed.

Got it so long ago, but think it’s called something like Luxor Suntime Swing Seat. When mine finally croaks it, I would definitely buy again.

I bought a 3 seater raffia type swing seat from Costco about 5 years ago . It wasn't cheap , approximately £400, but it's used frequently and is still like new. I don't have a cover on it but it's endured several winters. I have it on the deck just outside the patio doors and it's very comfortable on which to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the sunshine . I would highly recommend it.

We have the Bali swing seat from The Range. It's a three seater with a canopy and folds down to a flat bed. I really love it and would recommend it but I see it's no longer available online. Shame, as it's so comfortable in both modes and seats three or four, great for barbecues or just lying out in the sun reading a book. No doubt other versions are available elsewhere...

I had considered getting a helicopter chair but thought the multi-seater would work better for all of us, so opted for that in the end. This is it:

Ooo thanks for the tips, I only just saw I had replies!

So I need to get a multi seat so I can lay all over it, sounds 👍good. Metal framed so no maintaining and detachable seat pads.
I'm hoping to buy online to avoid the shops so I'm very grateful of advice.
I do like a nap in the garden so laying down is a bonus Grin

Just saw the Aldi one on eBay.
The one that's now sold out after I dithered about buying it........£600 Shock
Who's savvy enough to buy it to resell?!?
I know, those more savvy than me

I've got a double egg chair that I got online. It's the Bramblecrest Blenheim Double Hanging Cocoon. (On my phone which won't let me upload photos). It was £500 so not cheap but I had 2 holidays cancelled because of covid so decided to treat myself. The cushions are really thick, it's big enough to lie down if my legs are curled and it's so comfortable. I love it.

We have a wooden multi-seat one, which we love. It was £350, bought a few years ago. However, with a wooden one, keep an eye on the structure of it, and if any screws start working loose: the bench suddenly collapsed one day. We repaired it, and reinforced some of the joints with metal strips, but we have to check it occasionally.

I have the same cocoon swing as @cariadlet I think. I bought it as a retirement present for myself and I live in it! Sometimes when I get into bed at night I can still feel myself rocking gently back and forth.

We've got a double Bramblecrest cocoon, too, got it in a sale this time last year, I cannot begin to say how much I love it, it has been so good to have during lockdown.

bulldoghyper · 27/10/2023 13:11

Can you recommend a place to buy garden furniture?

gontierbetty · 31/10/2023 11:22

Swing seats can be a fantastic addition to your garden. I'd recommend looking into sturdier options if you're concerned about the egg-shaped ones. Multi-seat swings can be great for comfort and safety. As for what to avoid, keep an eye out for flimsy materials and poor construction. You might also find some helpful recommendations and reviews on mycozybackyard.com. Hope you had a fantastic birthday and are enjoying your new swing seat!
