Saving Poppy Seeds

I have had so many flowers on my gorgeous Prince of Orange Oriental Poppy this summer
I want to collect the seeds though I don’t know if they will come true next year

Do I have to wait until the seed pods are dry on the plant to collect them? The plant is looking a little worse for wear after the recent torrential rain.
Obviously I will wait if necessary

I will include a picture of my Ladybird poppy as it is so pretty.

Yes wait until the seed pods are dry

They need to go brown and you will notice up at the top just under the 'frill' holes will open up. These are closed while the seed head is green
