Unbelievably I've just been given some plants that were about to be thrown away and I'm beside myself with joy! But I don't know what they are!
Plus I have a nice one come up from last year and one I suspect is a week I've been lovingly nurturing.

From the right I think , Verbena(light pink), Veronica(purple)
Harder to see the two(?) on the left but the far left dark pink might be salvia?
Do you have any more photos?

Knittedfairies · 11/07/2020 12:54

Left to right, I think you've got a penstemon, ? and a verbena. I'll have a think about the ?.

I fear your lovingly nurtured plant is a willowherb - but it's a very fine willowherb.

bitofasleuth · 11/07/2020 12:55

Your weed is indeed a weed Grin It's pretty but don't let it set seed whatever you do...

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 11/07/2020 12:56

Weed is a rosebay willowherb. Unless you want to be overrun by them next year, get rid before the seed heads open.

CatherinedeBourgh · 11/07/2020 12:56

The pink on the left looks like verbena, the purple in the middle like sage. Can’t see the one on the left well enough I’m afraid.

CatherinedeBourgh · 11/07/2020 12:57

Sorry on the right is verbena

Vodkacranberryplease · 11/07/2020 15:51

Thanks for the weed I'd! It looked like a phlox before it flowered !

I'll look the others up and post another pic if I can't Id. The tall red one looks like a salvia but doesn't have savlia smelling leaves.

The tall red one is definitely a salvia.

onalongsabbatical · 11/07/2020 17:00

Not all salvias are aromatic.

Vodkacranberryplease · 11/07/2020 18:18

Ok and the dark purple is a Veronica. So that just leaves this

Both are about 35 cm high I thought they were the same kind of plant but they are slightly different. No scent.

And also the mystery returnee which isn't very tall as it's trying to get to the sun but maybe would be 40cm or so?

The blue one is a Salvia, these are my favourite plants in the world.

Vodkacranberryplease · 11/07/2020 21:51

Salvia! I thought the red one was and this was a Veronica. Or they both might be. And verbena.

BillywilliamV · 12/07/2020 08:25

If the stem is blue as well as the flowers then the blue one is a salvia.

MereDintofPandiculation · 12/07/2020 15:44

one I suspect is a week I've been lovingly nurturing. Are you my DS? He sent me a picture of the same plant earlier this week. He'd nurtured it from a seedling.

It is a willowherb, Epilobium, probably Epilobium montanum as that's one of the common ones in gardens.

It most definitely isn't rosebay willowherb, which has far showier flower spikes in a deeper pink.
