I went to the gardens of a local stately home today and came across a plant that I'd not seen before that was really pretty and eye-catching. It had green leaves but a bright pink stem and bright pink flowers. I would have asked one of the gardeners what it was but none were to be seen. Does anyone here have any idea what plant this is?

Reminds me of amaranthus, but not sure if that is correct.

Beebumble2 · 07/07/2020 20:23

It does look like Aramanthus, but one suffering from lack of nutrients.

MereDintofPandiculation · 07/07/2020 21:41

Yes, Amaranthus. And not a very happy one, as beebumble says

A lovesick Love Lies Bleeding

Thank you so much! From looking at google I think you're all correct. They were all kind of droopy like that so I presumed that was the look of the plant rather than them being miserable. The colour of them was stunning though.

Lovesick, ahh. My amaranthus Pony Tails Mixed seedlings have pinkish leaves, so perhaps it's a characteristic of the plant.
