Aloe Vera plant advice please?

I've got one I bought on a whim from a supermarket a few months ago and it's doing quite well but it needs repotting.

I purchased some special cacti/aloe soil and a bigger pot.

One thing I'm unsure of is wether I should plant it directly in the ceramic pot or pop it in one of those plastic pots with drainage holes in before putting on top of the soil and covering with more soil in the ceramic pot.

Does anyone know what's best?

Always use a pot with drainage holes in. This is a succulent plant, so needs well drained potting mix (the stuff sold as cactus/succulent soil isn’t really the best tbh, you’re better off using JI2 with extra grit, but it will probably do for now). These plants don’t like to be overwatered, and will rot if overwatered. By all means, pop it in a cover pot, but always remove it to water, and never let it sit in standing water. They do like plenty of sun, so give it your sunniest windowsill.

I’ve had an aloe Vera plant for about 6 years now that I inherited Grin.
It gives me regular offspring so needs frequently to be reported without them.
I’ve never given it special soil, didn’t know that was a thing. It has very infrequent watering and plenty of sun.

Treat it mean and it’ll be good

Best thing you can do is ignore it.

I water mine once a year. I give it an absolute deluge all over, which washes the dust off the leaves as well, and let it drain. I'm trying to mimic a sudden rainstorm and flash flood in the desert. Seems to work, I've had it about 9 years now.

I'm with you @bitofasleuth, I can't remember when I last watered mine; some time before Christmas I think, same as the money plant. They're both flourishing.

This is probably why DS is doing well (well was haven't been in his room for ages)

It had big babies on last time I saw and needs re-potting. I think he waters it once in a blue moon
