I went to help out at the local urban wildlife centre and was scything a meadow. My hands are blistered to all buggery but I said no to the strimmer. I'm going back next week to do some more eco gardening.

Great, isn't it! Get yourself a good pair of heavy-duty gardening gloves - they really do reduce the blisters. (I'm a nature reserve volunteer ).
