Decking or other solutions?

Hello,

I’m looking for ideas to create a cost effective, zero maintenance (if that exists) seating area in my garden. I was thinking of decking but am told this can get slimy and weathered.
Any possibilities that anyone can think of?
Thank you
A.

Millboard is a good low maintenence alternative to decking, quite expensive though.

I dug out put webbing down and gravel on top. Use the strongest webbing though.

Thank you @weepingwillow22 and @fuzzymoon, will look into those.

Hi,

I can supply you with reclaimed scaffold boards to build with.

Best,

Joe

Im not a fan of decking at all...slippery when it's been raining (so most of the time), needs treating every year..washing and staining or it will rot, can attract rodents beneath.

As you are on a budget, definitely gravel on top of waterproof membrane is the cheapest option..you will.need something to keep the gravel from escaping, the on a roll little log borders are very cheap at diy shops- try poundlsnd/wilko or Amazon. Won't last more than a few years but gives you time to find a better edging..bricks or tiles can be sunk inti the trench eventually..
Work out how much gravel you need and but in bulk from s builders merchant, not the tiny bags from the supermarket.

Tables and chairs will sink into the gravel, lay some slabs under where the table and chairs are (use concrete slabs, very cheap, won't be seen really), gravel in between and over bulk of the area.

Composite decking.

Ours has been down two years and not done a thing to it - looks the same as brand new.
