Poppies

I have lovely pink poppies in my garden. Some years they do better than others, I presume they lie dormant sometimes. I always shake the seed heads when they are ready. One year I bought some poppy seeds and did the same, but nothing came up. A friend has really nice poppies - do I collect the seeds & sprinkle them straight away, or do I wait until next year? I'm assuming I just sprinkle them now, as if they had come from poppies in my garden?

I do a mixture of both. I gather the seed head tillIve got a big bag (have had 1.5kg and 750g last year) and let the rest self seed

So when do you sprinkle the ones you've saved? In the spring? Thank you

I sprinkled mine at the beginning of April and they started to flower last week.

I sprinkle mine straight away though next year will do in the spring as well as I'm preparing a wildflower bit
