Can you help me identify what this is please? We’ve not long moved into this house and I’m a garden novice, so trying to work out what I want to keep and what I don’t. It’s about high shin level. TIA!

I think it looks like yellow dock which is a weed. But have a look on google to double check as I could be entirely wrong!

If it's pretty and you like the look of it, then leave it there. Loads of native wild plants are lovely.

A weed is only a plant growing in the wrong place. Maybe don't let it set seed though, just in case you end up with thousands of the things!

I think it’s a weed. Keep it if you like it though..

I am also in the camp of ‘if you like it leave it’. If you don’t want it to seed everywhere just cut the old flowers off when they’ve finished flowering as I think these turn into seed pods.

Ah thanks, yes it looks like it’s a yellow dock. I’ll take it out, doesn’t fit the space it’s in really! Will need to find something else to plant there instead.

Yellow dock seems to be a common name for Rumex crispus, curled dock, and I don't think it's that - the leaves are too narrow and too regularly lobed. I think it's one of the amaranths. Have a look at Amaranthus caudatus - I don't think it's that, but you'll see the leaf shape is a better fit.
