Plum and cherry tree aphids

I have a plum and cherry tree in my back garden and both are covered in aphids.

I’m not much of a gardener and have no idea where to start with getting rid of the problem. The RHS website suggests a few sprays but I wanted to see if anyone has any tips on how to get rid of them at this point in the season whilst making sure the fruit is ok to eat?? Will I need to cut down the trees or the affected branches?

Any tips much appreciated!

We just leave ours (cherry), they don't harm the fruit as they congregate on the new growth tips but the fruit grows from the previous year's growth further up the stems. They do make the leaves curl but are great food for ladybirds.
