This beautiful flower re-appeared from last year and has absolutely no sun! I can't remember what it's called though. A lovely plant for deep shade.

Hi, that's a tradescantia. I love them! Xx

The flower looks like blue potato bush (solanum crispum/ lycianthes rantonetti) but not sure about the leaves.

I agree with 3wheels that it is a Tradescantia also known as Spiderwort.

I always thought Tradescantia's were houseplants in this country so I've learnt something already today! Grin

You've reminded me that I used to have tradescantia in three colours dotted around the garden, but they all perished. Lovely plant.

The flower looks like blue potato bush It's only got 3 petals! Therefore can't be a Solanum. Agree tradescantia

Thanks everyone. Grin i do remember asking here last year what it was and was told tradescantia. I must remember this time! i didn't think it would come back this year, esp with no sun, so a very nice surprise!

That's exactly the sort of surprise I like in the garden. Last year I had a clematis come back from the (obviously not) dead.

Last year I had a clematis come back from the (obviously not) dead. Clematis are amazing. I had an Etoille Violette come back after about 10 years of non-appearance.

FromIbizaToTheNorfolkMaud · 17/06/2020 09:30

Oh, clematis are amazing in so many ways!

So pretty! There's different sorts - there is a house plant too. Long flowering season for a shade plant! www.perryhillnurseries.co.uk/catalogue/perennials/tradescantia/
Beth chatto has a beautiful pink one yoo

I haven't seen a pink one! I have a white one a purple one and one which is white but has blue veins running through the petal. Gorgeous :)
I have one in the garden in full sun and it does very well and three in pots in the shade, also doing very well. Think we've found a wonder plant!! :)
