Can anyone identify this? I've had it a number of years but can't remember what it is. I'm obviously pruning it wrong because although it's healthy it produces very few flowers. Picture with foxglove for scale

Could it be Mock Orange?

GlubGlubGlub · 02/06/2020 10:52

It’s a philadelphus mock orange. It’s a huge shrub so you may be pruning it too harshly?

NanTheWiser · 02/06/2020 11:42

Yes, Philadelphus. Pruning should be done after it has flowered. If you're pruning in the spring, you're pruning off flowering branches.

bilbodog · 02/06/2020 11:54

The flowers should smell fantastic.

onalongsabbatical · 02/06/2020 12:16

It's a Philadelphus!
Is it just me, or are about 85% of the plant id threads Philadelphus? I'm beginning to get groundhog day about it! Grin
Not meaning to criticise you thread op! I'm just like - will it be another Philadelphus? - no, it can't be...it is!

squashyhat · 02/06/2020 12:38

Yes that's it thanks Smile I think it's a miniature one so shouldn't grow too big. I did have a huge one which had to go so probably bought this instead. The flowers do smell but very faintly.
