Family sized garden?

Hi everyone,
We've found a house we love. The one possible question mark is the garden. It is north facing but we're not too worried about that as it's a wide plot and it gets the sun all the way into the evening.
My question is how big a garden would you want for a family sized garden generally? We are a family of 3 with a dog, and hope to have another child in the future. We measured it and it's 55ft wide and just over 40ft long.
It felt a little small to me but that could be the way the current owners have designed it. They are obviously keen gardeners with lots of shrubs and bushes.
There's also some space out the front of the property which would work really well as a little sun trap for our morning coffees.
Any thoughts on this would be really useful!
Thanks x

I guess it depends where you are, where I am in London it sounds pretty big. Ours is the width of our house, terrace, about 20 ft and maybe 50ft long. Plenty big enough for two kids and a dog but if I was further out in a bigger house with more space around, I'd want more garden.

Thanks for the replies. @witchwindows wow sounds like a lot to be able to fit in! Maybe I'm worrying about nothing then. The house is just what we want in every other aspect.
