Good evening all. I am seeking some advice please.
A couple of months ago I treated myself to a rhizome of the Black Bat Flower (Tacca species), something for which I have had a hankering for quite a while!
It is planted in a terracotta pot, in a slightly acid potting medium with plenty of added perlite and horticultural grit, with half an inch of the rhizome prodruding vertically. It lives in my greenhouse, warm, humid, but shaded from direct sunlight - all exactly as guidance suggests.
So far - nothing. It is sitting in its pot, sulking, refusing to make any growth whatsoever. Not a hint or a sign of any life at all!
Has anyone successfully grown these bizarre and fascinating plants? If so, do you have any advice for me please to stimulate this wretched thing and get it to come to life? I really do not want to lose it, but I am fearful that if I cannot get it to make some growth through the summer, it will fail on me!
Thank you
