nettle fertiliser?

Hello I was wondering if anyone makes fertiliser from nettles?
I decided to give it a try so shredded up my nettles and soaked them in a bucket. That was about a week or 10 days ago: I accidentally knocked the lid off today and wonder if mine has gone wrong..

I knew it was supposed to smell bad but this was like dung from a very sick animal with an added overtone of rotten cheese. Is it really meant to be that bad?

I put comfrey plus nettle together and yes, smells awful. I make it without a lid and put it in a corner, it isn’t so bad except the last dregs at the bottom which land in the compost anyway.

I just do "chop and drop" with either nettles or comfrey
