I moved house last year and finally got round to sorting out a border in my back garden. In amongst a lot of weeds and dying bluebells I found this. It's about 4in tall and doesn't look particularly great but I'd love to know what it is before I decide what to do with it.

Thank you.

Could it be a fuchsia?

Veronicat · 22/05/2020 10:16

Download plant net onto your phone then you can take a photo of it and it will identify it.
I've used it loads this week on woodland walks.

Looks like laurel to me

RoseyPeas · 22/05/2020 10:44

I agree with Bee - laurel is my guess.

MereDintofPandiculation · 22/05/2020 12:25

Depends on size, but I agree fuchsia. If it was laurel, those leaves would be at least 3in (7.5cm).

HasaDigaEebowai · 22/05/2020 12:26

I think its fuchsia too

MereDintofPandiculation · 22/05/2020 12:27

Also, those leaves are in opposite pairs. Laurel leaves are alternate, so that can be ruled out.

Thanks all of you. I've not heard of plant net so will give that a go. That could give me hours of fun!

None of the plant applications are failsafe, and when they get it wrong they get it spectacularly wrong.

I agree it does look like a fuscia x
