Do I need to do anything or should I just leave them?.

Buy some ant powder to get rid of them if you value your bay trees. Any shop with a garden section will sell it.

Ok. I treated one pot and their back already.

Repot the bay tree in new soil? And put it somewhere else, in case the ants in the pot are just a continuation of the ants nest underneath the pot.

Despise ants.
I don’t know about bay trees, but if they infiltrate any fruit plants/trees don’t believe the nonsense that they are harmless.

If the damage done by the aphids they farm isn’t enough they absolutely do eat and damage the fruit too

Keeping the soil wet tends to deter them but you risk rotting your bay.
I’d use diatomaceous earth to kill them as it’s ‘organic’ and non toxic.
It doesn’t discriminate though and will call all manner of bugs

**kill not call
