Yellow magnolia advice

Can anyone advise please? I bought a yellow magnolia 3 weeks ago but now some of its leave seem brown. It is planted in a fairly sheltered spot and I noticed that one bit branches out with green leave sand the other with brown. There seems to be more brown now but I did have a beautiful flower. I'm so worried it is dying. Thanks

Magnolias have relatively shallow roots, but regular watering (it's been pretty dry this year), feeding and mulching should help. It's also possible there's some frost damage to the leaves, depending where you are, as there have been some really hard frosts overnight recently.

Thanks both it sounds like I haven't been watering enough so will get on to that.
We have had cold nights too. Might sound silly but what do you mean by mulch? Novice here!

Thank you for your help. I'm keen to learn, love my garden and had more time lately to explore!
