Grandson's seed bomb

My grandson presented me with a seed bomb made at a nature day. No idea what seeds it contained but we scattered it in a tub. Seedlings growing beautifully but no idea what they are. Any thoughts? And do I need to thin them out?

Could be cress, it's alot of seeds! So can't think it would be expensive ones, because that looks about a fivers worth. I wouldn't thin them yet, I think pulling some out would disturb the others very delicate roots. Hope it's something exciting!

I thought maybe mustard and cress but too big and no smell. Did consider tasting but decided against. Grin

Maybe pansies

Thanks @Squidwitch, tub/planter is about 50cms wide, to give an idea of scale. I'm just hoping for something flowering!

Wrong cotyledon shape for cress.

You'll never be able to thin those out. When they get a bit large, subdivide them and plant each patch of seedlings into their own separate pot. You'll get some deaths anyway.

I thought seed bombs were for much larger areas. We had a wildflower one once but didn't have the space for it.

Peasweet · 16/05/2020 12:25

@MereDintofPandiculation thanks, will need to do that pretty soon I think. Will be able to share the wealth.
@SquashedFlyBiscuit wondering whether this is the same.. there are a lot of densely growing seedlings. Unfortunately it was hand made and delivered in an egg box with no details or instructions at all... Grin

The different leaf on the left - long with bits coming out if the sides - looks like a poppy, or maybe a Cosmo, so maybe it's a wildflower mix?

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 16/05/2020 12:43

That sounds really sweet. Will be interesting to see what grows!

Peasweet · 16/05/2020 13:06

@MedicineHat in which case they are far too densely growing.. hope there are poppies though. In fact, pleased something has grown at all as the very dry seed bomb spent the Winter and most of Spring left on my porch windowsill!
