I see this plant/shrub regularly on my dog walk and would like to know what is is. Does anyone know? It's got quite large leaves and I 🤔 last year it had some flowers.

What is this plant?

It looks like Acanthus mollis aka 'Bears breeches', which produces tall spikes of purplish flowers. It is a thug in the garden, and difficult to dig out when it gets large. OK if you have plenty of space for it.

I thought it may be Fatsia Japonica but wasn't sure. I've got a space to fill so might try a Smoke Bush instead. Thank you

I’m not sure it’s bears breeches, I have it in my garden and the leaves are much darker.

What colour were the flowers?

Possibly red/pink but I couldn't be certain.
