Is this a weed or a geranium?

It's next to a hardy geranium and the leaves look similar-ish but it's quite flat to the ground. I have a habit of digging up perennials thinking they're weeds coming through so I wanted to check first.

Looks like a buttercup to me.

I think it is a buttercup - I have lots in with my geraniums so it is a bit of a challenge! I am leaving them be temporarily because they are in flower and look beautiful. I will take a fork to them when they go over.

creeping bloody buttercup...dig it up else it will root everywhere
