What plant is this?

Any ideas what this is?

Foxglove. Last year's plant, so it should flower this year.

I say foxglove, but it may be something else - the leaves have the right colour and texture for foxglove, but the older leaves look a bit too rounded.

How do you know it's first or second year??

Size. It's only the beginning of May, if it had germinated from a seed this spring it would be nowhere near that large.
