Campanula in a cracked log?

Can I do that?
Obviously it often grows well in stone walls, I have a stumpery in the corner of my garden, if I planted some campanula within the holes/cracks of the logs, do you think it would take and grow? Or not..?

I have a lot of dead wood in the garden and even the weeds tend to avoid it. I think it’s because it’s so dry, plus the lack of nutrients of course. If you filled a gap with a liner (pot or plastic bag with holes in) and some compost then I don’t see why it wouldn’t grow like it was in a pot though.
