how to prune an olive plant?

Hi, i have an olive plant/tree, it was in a neat ball shape when i got it, it now isn't!
it's only about a foot tall. how would I go about shaping it, also, when is the right time to do it please?

New growth is frost-tender so I'd probably wait until it is growing strongly in about end of May / early June, and then prune it into shape then. Cuttings take quite easily too, so maybe give it a go with some of what you prune off.

Imports of olive trees into the UK have just been banned (to try and stop the spread of a disease), so look after it!
