Are there any seeds I can scatter now amongst various leafy / grassy / flowerbed please? I'm thinking wild meadow type stuff. Total novice!

Wild flower seeds are notoriously difficult to take on grassy areas. They are better on poor soil that does not have lawn grass.

Cornflowers grow very easily from seed, (if you’ve got some bits where the earth is bareish, not too grassy). They have gorgeous bright flowers that go on and on for ages, especially if you deadhead them. I am not great at growing things from seed, (still no sign of my sweet peas) but I do these every year and they will even grow for me.

California poppy, Candytuft, Clarkia and Nigella are not wild flowers, but grow very well scattered on flowerbeds.
