I think it's a wallflower

I was hoping it might be something like that... I'm doubting my brain when I checked online to see whether there was any chance it might be Japanese knotweed...

It's a wallflower,I have quite a few that colour in my garden.

If japanese knotweed was that size, I don't think people would be quite so worried about it
