Can anybody put a name to these two beauties which are spreading in my herbaceous border? Photos attached. Thank you.

hi, the shiny heart-shaped leaved one is lesser celandine (Ficaria verna) an open woodland plant with buttercup yellow flowers. The other may be hairy bittercress, which spreads like wildfire as the seeds ping everywhere. I think I can see the compound leaves in your photo.

MereDintofPandiculation · 16/04/2020 09:58

Yes to both. Certainly one of the bittercresses even if it isn't hairy.

Geppili · 16/04/2020 13:09

Oh thank you so much! The hairy bitter cress is everywhere! Going to tackle it today.

In these days without supermarket delivery slots, bittercress has been featuring large in my salads. Pity I don't like watercress.

Thank you so much for more replies and info. I told the kids it was tuna pasta bake with homegrown hairy bitter cress salad for tea. Their faces.
