Sown carrot too thickly

WAY too thickly. Used a whole pack for three rows Blush. Is this going to be a complete write off? When should I try thinning out? Or will the competition be so bad that I won't get there?

Carrots are really tricky anyway.

Wait until you've got seedlings and then thin them dramatically.

Tend them lovingly for months and months admiring the foliage

Pull them up and realise they were 95% foliage and 5 percent mangled hairy root the size of your little toe and your entire crop will provide a mouthful of food.

I don't have any issues with growing carrots but i do use 50/50 soil & sand.
If you need to thin, personally I'd wait until the tops were a couple of inches tall. You may find it very beneficial after thinning to cover the carrots left in the ground securely with some fleece as otherwise they may be susceptible to the dreaded carrot fly.

I thin them as they come up.
