Hello all,

A dear relative died 10years ago and I have just inherited some pots with plants in that were hers (another family member took them). I've just repotted this as it was massively pot bound. Not sure what it is? I'm not a novice gardener but I'm not sure if it is an agapanthus? The plant must be old but looks healthy enough! Has never flowered in my relatives care but not sure if that's because the pot was so small for it and they weren't a particularly keen gardener!

Looks like it could be an agapanthus, a small flowering variety. Put in the sun and wait and see.

My first thought was also agapanthus. But if so it may not flower this summer as they like to be treated rather meanly and it would have been happy baking in pot bound heaven. I discovered this through personal experience! I treat them meanly now and they respond with flowers.

Thanks both, yes I did think once it was reported that perhaps it wouldn't be happy! I've popped it in a very sunny, baking hot spot so will see what becomes of it!

as they like to be treated rather meanly and it would have been happy baking in pot bound heaven or rather, if they are treated meanly, they start worrying about their survival and start reproducing (flowering) like mad.

Well when you put it like that I'm glad I reported it and gave it some TOC!
