I’m looking for some advice on laying artificial grass on paving slabs.
I know, I know, artificial grass
. But the garden is completely paved, we have small children, and it looks like we’re going to be spending a lot of time in it. Our youngest is 18 months so we’d like something kinder than paving underfoot and under knees/bottom when they fall over.
The garden is on a very slight slope, so water runs off well and the paving seems to drain properly after rain. The slabs are flat, there aren’t any raised bits, only a couple of smallish gaps between them. What do I need to know? Can I lay it straight down or do I need something underneath (was considering the special stuff they sell for making it a bit softer but do I need sand or anything)? Will it be relatively easy to do ourselves (not very handy!). How do we keep it down - I’m imagining we could use plant pots down the sides but at one end there is a step up from an area we’d keep paved, right outside the door - how do we keep it down here?
Most importantly, do I need to worry about this damaging the paving? We rent, although we’ll be here a few years, I don’t want to cause any damage.
Thank you so much in advance!
