small patio help

Not sure if this is the right topic or it should go in DIY. Anyway, I have a small patio area as part of my small garden. It is around 8 x 8 ft. I have a small set of garden furniture here. At the moment the ground is a sort if knobbly stone, which is a bit uneven. Last year I put an outdoor rug down but it went manky quite quickly.

I rent so don't want to spend tons of money although will probably be here a few years. I am single so not great at lots of manual labour although can get a friend to help.

I am thinking some sort of interlocking wooden slats or similar? What sort of things are available that are not too expensive, won't feel horrible under our feet when we go to sit outside and can be purchased online.

Thanks

Get some small Crush and Run gravel from B&Q. It's like little crushed, pebbly stones...you put it all over the courtyard and rake it flat.

Then you can put some fake grass over the top or if you don't like fake grass, you can get some paving slabs second hand...you won't need many but they're heavy.

The Crush and Run will fill the dips in on the knobbly ground and provide a smoother base for the fake grass.

I think IKEA usually have those interlocking wooden slats, would be worth a look. Or b&q or similar.

@fortunesfave sounds interesting. Will check it out. Most options seem quite expensive so had started to consider paving slabs.

Apparently Ikea very hit and miss with delivery at the moment so not sure if I'd use them currently.
