We’ve just had our hedges removed To sane maintenance and now have a big gap between the railway sleepers that were in front of the greenery and the fence.

What shrubs do you recommend that will look attractive all year and not grow too rampantly?

Thanks

Osmanthus is a compact, evergreen shrub with small white flowers in spring. The scent is devine.

Sounds lovely @Beebumble2 will add that to the list

Choisya ternata

Hebes. Though I don't think they last more than say 6 years.
Mahonia is evergreen. Holly too but will need kept under control.

Ooh yes like the look of both of them. Thank you

I love ceanothus (sp?) and it is available in a lot of forms. Such a beautiful colour when it flowers.

I love a pittosporum Tom Thumb, beautiful all year round.

Autumn flowering camellias - Camellia sasanqua ‘Narumigata’ is beautiful

I have cleared in front of a fence where 2 plants died, I am planning to put in Ceonothus as it always looks good. However it does not live that long, perhaps 10 years.

Thank you everyone, I am off to google!
