Has anyone found a set of the fairy style ones that don't die after a year?!
I purchased 4 off of groupon last year and all of them have stopped working. I turned them off over winter. Tried replacing the batteries, tried mains charging the batteries to give them a boost but nothing seems to work. I now have 2 sets that do nothing and 2 that seem to have a loose connection but I can't for the life of me find it and I'm a qualified electrical engineer 😤😤

Ikea ones are good. You have to take them in over the winter though.

My IKEA ones just died after 5 years. They are out all year round.
Watching this thread in the hope that someone has found some solar outdoor lights that can, you know, stand being outdoors.Grin

We had a set that was working till earlier today. I just spent 40 mins trying to fix them haha. The trouble is ours are wrapped round trellis and on our shed so the the easiest to take in and out seasonally.

@RiftGibbon I feel your pain. I used to love looking out at all my fairy lights, and now it's just a plain garden haha.

I was just thinking that today! I too get dissapointed that my lights don't last from year to year

RiftGibbon · 10/04/2020 08:53

None of the ones I have bought have said "Don't leave outside". I thought wrongly that if they were garden lights, they were made to withstand the elements.

Jessie9323 · 10/04/2020 09:30

I was advised to turn them off during winter to keep the battery from draining but never to bring them in either. Seems pointless like you say!

I don't know whether to bite the bullet and buy some more or to just give up!
