Squirrels eating my cherries

I've got a little cherry tree on my garden, currently covered in blossom. Last year the little bastard squirrels ate every single one. Any suggestions how to stop them this year?

Shotgun?

(Just joking!)

I used netting from poundland last year.

I like the shotgun idea, I've got plenty of time on lockdown Grin

Netting sounds like a good plan, thanks.

Annoyingly my lazy cat just sits and watches them

Netting or just get out there before they do. Do they wait til they’re ripe? We’ve got a blinkin flock of parakeets that nick ours of we’re not careful. Last two years, by careful daily checking, we got to the vast majority of them before they did. Two years prior to that they got the lot. I WILL WIN! 😂

They ate the lot last year before they were ripe.

Netting will not deter squirrels, sadly. They ate all of my pears last year, well before they ripened, and all of my strawberries, through netting (just chewed a squirrel-sized hole). I have been trying to come up with a solution for this year-- no luck yet.

Please don’t put netting up

Birds get caught in it and when it’s low, so do hedgehogs

Mine has enough gaps, no birds get caught in it, and it's nowhere near the ground.
