Another virgin gardener - is this plant a weed?

Hi everyone, I have started looking closely at my garden and I have managed to identify most of the things in it, but not this plant. I have tried to identify it online but with no luck. Anyone got any ideas? thanks

I don’t recognise that as a weed.
Not sure what it’s called though.

Well a weed is just a plant somewhere you don't want it, so it depends on whether you like it, but this is it:

It's a japonica. It will, given half a chance, spread like mad. Some love it, some hate it, I love it. Will flower for ages.

Definitely kerria. It will take over your garden!

If it’s what I’m thinking of W e once had an 8ft hedge of it which was beautiful, apparently it shouldn’t have grown that big 🙄
